Safe foods for advanced, but new Crohn's

Mon, January 02, 2023 3:42 PM

I just recently was diagnosed. I am wondering about some of my favorite foods. Chili, just the meat. It seams to trigger me quickly, why? Fish fry, Pizza, just the topping. Salad, Fruit cocktail, Store powdered gravy mix.

It’s best too keep track of foods that you eat and make sure to document if it aggravates your stomach

I have UC and have been doing carnivore since Jan 1 - lots of fat, no dairy and salt as a seasoning. I use certain plain herbs only every once in awhile, nothing spicy. Tumeric and ginger are good to add to anything with broth.I recommend the diet or at least something meat-heavy to people with IBD for a number of reasons. I go much less frequently and each go is much smaller than it would be on a normal diet. It's also an extremely effective elimination diet to find what causes you problems and can bring down the overall inflammation in your body, even outside of IBD. You may try it for a month and see how you do. Whatever you do, please get rid of ALL seed oils and stick to cooking with either animal fats or something natural like olive oil.

What to eat with Crohn’s

In recent years, the use of nutrition therapy for IBD has significantly grown in interest. This is due to the fact that food is both a risk factor and a therapeutic option in IBD. Diet is a powerful tool alone and when used in conjunction with medical interventions.

Here at the Crohn’s and Colitis Dietitians, we focus on:

  • Choosing foods that will help reduce inflammation and risk of flare
