Dealing with frequent bathroom visits & embarassing situation

Mon, July 06, 2020 5:55 AM

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with UC for over 10 years, in the past 2 years it has flared up again and I have undergone all types of treatment including 4 colonoscopies. I am now on another treatment (Humira) so we will see what results this may bring. My main issue is the constant bathroom breaks I have to take, expecially in the mornings, I eat all the right foods and drink plenty of water so not to aggravate the condition however I have suffered embarassing "leakage" when out and I really don't know what to do about this. I really dont want to start wearing "special" underwear but it looks like I may have no choice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I wear Reassure. Better safe than sorry. They have save me from a few embarrassing moments.. Had Crohn's for most of my life, 50+ years. Keep extradisposable underwater in my scooter, all my jackets and a package at my friends home. If you are not seeing a GI doctor or Enterogastrologist, then you should be. Good luck with whatever way you go.

Parnos, I have had battling crohn's disease for 30 plus years, not sure if this will help since u have U.C. but here it is. About a year ago my disease spread to my rectum and I was having alot of drainage, so I know how u feel. My G.I. put me on a suppository, not what I wanted but it really is helping. It's keeping the inflammation down in the rectum and therefore has really helped the aforementioned issue. Hope this helps, let me know if u have any questions.

Instead of Depends, buy some panty liners like Poise. I get two packs, one with wings, one without and use one of each side by side. I also only wear black or dark blue pants.
