HI,
I am looking for some opinion/perspective.
sorry for long post.
i have never really had any GI issues, except occasional gas and loose motions that resolved on its own.
This year July after an outside meal( after a month of keto) I got some sudden diarrhoea and I thought it was a usual stomach bug and took some anti biotic , soon after I started seeing bloody stools (10-12 a day).
Did a series of infectious testing that resulted negative.
After a course of antibiotics , the frequency reduced to 5-6 bowels a day but the diarrhoea and blood still persisted.
Had a colonoscopy which showed Patchy colon inflammation and doctor suggested chrons and put me on Entocort/budesonide.
I did not immediately start the medicine since I wasn't convinced about the diagnosis (how can I develop IBd all of a sudden), the frequency and blood slowly reduced to 3 bowels a day and occasional blood on its own.
After some research online, I decided to start the medication fearing complications and started taking budesonide once a day , continued it for 4 weeks.
After that switched GI doc,and decided to see Dr Rubin at Uni of Chicago (supposed to a be a excellent doc), he wasn't sure if it was IBD and asked me to quit budenoside for 4-5 weeks and perform repeat colonoscopy, this colonoscopy was normal and the biopsy showed that the colon was healing from previous inflammation.
i am now confused , was it a one off incident or could it still be IBD ?
can colonoscopy miss detecting IBD when it's in remission.
pla advise and help based on your experience.
