My son is a college student and was diagnosed with UC in 2018. He has been taking Mesalamine since being diagnosed with no issues. However, his colonoscopy in December 2022 revealed some inflammation and recent calprotectin was in the 400s. His doctor is recommending he switch to Zeposia. I am curious about this new medication and if anyone has taken it--side effects, ect OR is there an alternative. His doctor says his UC is still considered mild. Thank you!

Zeposia is an oral medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor modulators. It is used for the treatment of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis in adults. Zeposia works by reducing io games inflammation in the gut and preventing immune cells from migrating to areas of inflammation
