I am 35 and have been diagnosed with UC for 15 years. However 10 years ago, a few studies and labs made it inconclusive if it was UC or UC and Crohns together. I have never received a positive or negative response to that. I was told that I was one of the lucky 10% that have "inconclusive results."
I am on Lialda for medication (typically crohn's meds) and has for the most part done its job over the last 7 years. About 3 years ago, I got horrendously ill (vomiting every 5 minutes, when I ended up severly deyhdrated and in the hospital. There I contracted a case of C-Diff. All in all, since that point 3 years ago - my body has never been the same. I used to know and could tell when a flare would come on. And my flares always stayed at the gut level and aches and pain in joints and back.
Since that point 3 years ago, I will have random "attacks" where I am constantly nauseated, constantly belching and often have pains in the right and back - at least on a weekly basis. They have tested gall bladder, kidneys, liver and nothing out of the ordinary and the scopes often find scarring but no real active ulcerations. (I have tried very different food diets and allergy-related diets - to no avail). Additionally, I also find that every time I get a common cold - I am much worse than I used to be from 3 years ago. It knocks me out and leaves me deeply nauseated and exhausted. I am assuming this is all tied to a more compromised immune system - but I have not gotten any definitive answers what is causing this. I am beginning to feel like I am crazy. Has anyone experienced this at all? Or have insights to share?
