Hi everyone;
Does anyone know if I can still donate blood to the Red Cross while taking Asacol?
Thanks,

Thank you for the information. My doctor hasn't used the word indeterminate yet. I will follow up with the Red Cross and ask a few more questions. I love this community.

I tried to donate blood a few months ago and had the same sort of questions about the medications I'm taking. What surprised me however is that while ulcerative colitis is ok, if you have Crohn's they will not let you donate blood. It's what they call a 'permanend exclusion' which means you can never give blood.
I was really disappointed to learn this, especially since I have indeterminate colitis which means we're not sure if it's CD or UC. They excluded me anyway just in case it's Crohn's. I'm not sure what makes it a problem but they wouldn't let me do it.

Hi again Littlestar;
I contacted the Red Cross where I live. The medication Asacol is a good to go drug and not on the exempt list. I know Sulfa drugs are for infections, as I took them this past year.
Have a great day
