Adrenal Deficiency

Thu, September 25, 2008 7:33 AM

I was diagnosed with Crohns in 2005 and am 34 years old.  I am currently on Family Medical Leave from work as a special education teacher due to a flare with my Crohns this spring.  I am now taking humira and my Crohns is mostly back in remission.

My problem now is coming off the prednisone I have been on for months and at high doses in the hospital.  As many of you know prednisone is wonderful for how it helps people, but also a "necessary evil" as I call it due to the side effects.  Right now my head feels heavy and foggy, I am very fatigued, and my legs feel heavy.  In short, I feel wiped out.

My questions are:

Does anyone else have these symptoms?

Has anyone found a way to help the Adrenal Deficiency symptoms without going back on prednisone?  I have been put back on to try and help, but when I taper off symptoms come back.

Any thoughts?
