Has anyone taken asacol or lialda while they were pregnant? I have one son before I was diagnosed and I would like to have another child, but I am concerned about the effects of the meds on a pregnancy.

I was diagnosed just after I had my son. I started my first real flare up probably the day I got home from the hospital.
The only thing I have heard is that if you are in an active flare or your UC is not really under control, you have a much higher likelihood of having a miscarriage.
I am more concerned about the phthalate toxicity I might have from the asacol/lialda (I take the maximum dose) and the effect it might have on a developing fetus.

Hi,
I have been living with ulcerative colitis for almost six years. Next yr, my husband and I would like to conceive. Do you think I will have any complications in doing so with UC? Tell me about your experience with getting pregnant, being pregnant-living with UC.
I currently take Lialda and it's ok-but Asacol is better to me. They are really the same meds, you just basically take Lialda one time a day versus three times a day.
I wish you the best of luck with your new addition.
