I have severe I B and sometimes feel very alone. I have decided to try cutting out Gluten from my diet in bread form & for some reason the bathroom is calling me constantly. I came home at noon from work yesteray & i did not go in today. i fear for my job. we are down to 4 days a week. no job share with unemployment & we are very quiet!!!! i realize that this worry does not help my intestines does going Gluten free on the bread help or hinder. i seem to be opposite to most people. I cannot take iron pills they make me go to the bathroom.i am also very anemic. I take Clonazapan & Effexor. my intestines are very!!!!! sensitive.

I have found I can have bread, but only wheat bread.  And I definitely stay away from anything with yeast in it, with the exception of crackers.  But I don't have those too often.

It's all about trial and error.  There is some dairy I can tolerate with no problem and others that I have discovered eat me alive.

From my experience, any antidepressant gives me diarrhea and screws with my stomach. I put myself on a gluten free diet also, I don't really see a difference but I am going to stick with it. Dairy is my main trigger. Try to stay away from dairy (if u havent already) and see how that works. Good Luck... hope you feel better.

I know this sounds bad, but I cannot take any kind of SRI, which would include your Effexor.  It sets me on fire.  If you have to stop something, have your physician put you on a tricyclic antidepressant, such as Vivactil 10mg, Pamelor 10mg or something similar.  I have Short bowel, IBS and Crohn's.  Remember, we have something in the gut that already produces serotonin.  I find any of these reuptake inhibitors can really do a number on me.  It's just a thought!
