Has anyone here tried Xifaxan

I have found that Refaximin (Xifaxan) works very well for Crohn's.  Most of us struggle with bacterial overgrowth.  It is however extremely expensive.  If you can find a doc that possibly has samples just to try it.  It works great because the antibiotic is only absorbed in the gut and not your bloodstream.

My 15 y.o. son just finished a therapy of Xifaxan (Dr. samples).  He was dx'ed in 08/2008 with Crohn's.  Other antibiotics were not working or he was allergic to them.  He was able to tolerate the Xifaxin during the time he was dx'ed.  Because 9 mos later his inflammation levels are almost as high (?C reactive protein?) he was taking them and is now due for bloodwork to see if they helped.   I am thankful he that seems to be holding at 5'3" and 90 lbs for now.  He is anxious to grow another 7-10 inches.
