Since we all deal with some form of inflamation, it is a good idea to reduce our intake of foods that are highly inflamitory. No need to throw gas on the fire, right?
So here is some great info on what fish to eat and what to avoid based on inflamation rating. Bottom line...Avoid the Farm raised fish at all cost.

This site will show you inflamation ratings for all foods.
Good health to all.

Sodium...No. I dont eat any processed foods so the only sodium I get is what is naturally in foods and any sea salt that I add.

In looking at those, when I checked on cod and dungeness crab, I noticed the sodium level in each. Is that something you factor in to your diet?

When it come to salt water fish, I eat all kinds but limit the ones that are known to be high in mercury. I eat a lot of wild caught salmon, a little bit of cod and then mix it up with other fish. They always have to be wild caught.
This link shows what fish are high in mercury.

Also, what is your take on saltwater fish?
My urologist said it wasn't good for the digestive system (the salt) and to not eat it. I'm lucky, I don't like any fish but cod and sole, so this didn't impact me as bad.

I am so glad you came back to visit. I went to see my GI doctor yesterday (not good news) and I picked up a book by Dr. Lyon (one of his associates) on the topic of fat (Omega-6's and Omega-3's) and flax seed oil. I posted it in another thread but will post it here for you also. I thought of you when I began devouring it. It truly opened my eyes by chapter five and I'm bet you know alot on this already, but hey, it's a free book online!
I am hoping to sit down in the near future and talk with the author who wrote it but first, I want to read through what you have shared above and then I have a few more dietary things I want to research and then bombard him with the questions.
It is very interesting, since I am in flare mode right now, how emotionally and mentally stable I am this time. Even though the pain shoots from the stomach all the way down, firey type, I know that my bowels/intestines need a rest and that is what they are getting. Very bland and liquid diet, yet full of protein and water. I will beat this.
Please, feel free to stay in touch, my email is aca11@ymail.com, if you happen to come across any more interesting tidbits.
Thanks!!!!!!

I use this nutrition site as well to see what is inflammatory. It is a great site. More good advise from Patman.
I am doing a lot of what you are doing and just ran my first marathon July 12th. I did great and had no problems with my UC. I feel fabulous.
Thanks for sharing and researching. If we all just did a little of this what would be the worst thing? Maybe we would all start feeling better. What would the doctors say then?
