Hi all...I know I come and go, but this is a great place to vent, and actually know that there are other people out there that suffer from the same stupid crap that I do... For the past year I have had several hospital stays, and I have had several diagnosis..chrons, gastropareesis and UC. For the second time in two years I have been fired from my job for being absent. Each time I was absent, I had a note from my GI, my family doc, or the discharge papers from the hospital. I am 42 years old, and I am absent for a reason...I just want to scream that. I am not hung over, I am not lazy, I am not just calling in...I have issues. Supervisors stare at me when I go to the bathroom, I have even been followed in there (hope you enjoyed the smell and noise while spying on me because i knew you were in there and i didn't courtesy flush) because they thought i was taking too many breaks, people at work comment like "you are always out", I have never seen anyone that is sick like you". When you try to explain chrons to anyone, they just look at you like you're crazy...I can't deal with this. I had the same job for 17 years, before I was let go...now I have been through two since that. Back to no insurance, back to no doctors, and now back to getting all stressed out about being unemployed, which leads to nothing but a chrons flair. If anyone has any info about home employment, about no insurance, about disability, about employment, or just any advice in general, i am open for any advice, comments, or help. I just don't know where else to turn but to my fellow chronies...I am open for anything. Hope everyone is having a better day than I am. Will this ever get better????

Reply posted for irishmom7052. I thought FMLA was a mandatory thing, Feds put it in place so employees will not loose their jobs to illness for them or their spouses.

Check into if your facility offers FMLA (falimy medical leave act). You usually have to be an employee for 1 year. If you are voecerd by this and because of your diuagnosis you shoule be your absencences cannot be held against you, They usually send a quetionare to your GI and hae them fill it out, this is a federal mandate somake syure you look into it with your human resource office. Feel better and keep a positinve attitude.
