Birth Control

Wed, July 22, 2009 12:00 AM

I am trying to find appropriate birth control for my 18 year old daughter. She has severe ulcerative colitis and I think that the depo provera shot would be our best option. The reason being, she sometimes doesn't digest her pills and I'm afraid birth control pills would not be properly absorbed. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi I use the patch just because I was afraid of the absorbtion issue with the pill so I have been using the patch for a year with no problems at all i really like it but have recently decided with my gyno doc to get the IUD which she said would not be a problem with the Crohn's. Hope this helps.

I have severe ulcerative colitis as well and I am on Yazmin. It has not done any damage or anything. I have tried a bunch of birth control and this I believe is the best. You don't gain weight from this brand either.
