I told my doctor that I was having a LOT of gas issues. I am at the point where I don't feel it coming. I move slightly and I then smell it. It has become very embrassing to say the least. He says it is bacterial over growth. He just wants to watch it. He says it could also be the questran that I take 2 x a day. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to decrease the over growth. The only chrons "meds" I am on are Remicade every 8 weeks, and the Questran, which I have been taking since I had my bowel surgery in January of this year. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Please respond on the forum or e-mail direct at cm575@comcast.net. Thanks again

I have bacteral overgrowth. Every few months, when I started feeling the bloating and pain get worse my doctor calls in a 10 day course of an antibiotic called Xifaxin. Even with insurance it is pricey and often times I have to get samples from my doctor because my insurance doesn't cover all the pills I need. However, it does help for several months at a time.

My daughter has UC and her doc thinks she has bacteria overgrowth which many UC patients have. She takes a probiotic called Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 billion which her doc recommended for UC patients. I got it at Whole Foods. I was talking to the person at Whole Foods in the vitamin department. She told me that Jordan Rubin who developed the probiotics called Garden of Life Primal Defense has Crohn's Disease. He also has written lots of books one called "The Maker's Diet" that I've heard about. Go on the website and you can read all about Garden of Life suppliments and there's even a phone number on there. That may be what would be good for Crohn's. I hope it helps. The probioticUltimate Flora Critical Care 50 billion has really helped my daughter with her UC. She also watches her diet: no added sugars, no sodas, no foods with additives (junk foods), limits dairy.
