Yard Fertilizer and Pest Control

Fri, July 24, 2009 8:18 PM

I am worried about the chemicals in our Lawn treatments and our pest control.  I am thinking it will be best to go organic.  Anybody have any thoughts or tips.

My sis uses a lawn service that only uses organics--if you don't want to do it yourself. They are hard to find though.
It is comforting to know there are no extra chemicals around-- but unfortunately not everyone feels this way.

I have stopped using non-organic fertilizers and chemicals in my goal to reduce and elimate envirometal toxins.  Plus I dont want my chickens eat plants laced in chemicals.

You can compost which makes great ferilizer. Some grain elevators sell dry chicken manure that you can use to ferilizer your lawn, it is very high in nitrogen.  You can also mix blood meal, bone meal and other natual products to make you own fertilzer.  There is a corn gluten products that can help with weed control.

Good luck!
