I met people with Crohns and some didnt look well maybe cause of flare ups. Im an artist, i paint for people but money is slow and sometime wonder if getting a job that might stress me out be worth it for the money even if it mite trigger my Crohns to flare up.
i get sick a lot and on remicade but when i get tired or change in season i get sick real bad. i like to meet some people who will inspire me. my question is..
Is it possible to have a series job and career with Crohn's and Colitis and not worried about being fired for so many sick days?
is there such a thing as a stress less job?

Juiceman,
I just replied to your other post you left me about juice. If you could give me that information again I'd appreciate it. My father was a firefighter and I have a huge amount of respect for you guys. Where I live many of my colleages (teachers) have spouses and/or family members who are firefighters. Today is our first day back after being off all summer and ofcourse I'm not doing too well-with the crohns and colitis! I'm trying to have a good attitude but nothing seems to be working right now.
Thanks and have a great day!

Blackdisney,
You can do anything if you set your mind right! I'm a Lieutenant in the Fire Department in the City I live in. I was diagnosed in 2000 with CD. Spent 3 months in the hospital, used up some sick leave. Came out with a colostomy and went on light duty for a few months. I soon returned to the Engine house and ran calls and fought many fires with my CD and trusty bag attached. Full gear, SCBA, inside of a burning building! Stressfull? yes, but fun in a sick kind of way (only a fireman would understand!) Point is, attitude is everything. You mind is truly more powerfull than your body. I'm also an avid SCUB diver. I went to the caymans and did a 120ft. dive with my trusty bag, it never let me down.
Have you ever thought about a homebased business??

Hi. If I can teach First Grade with a class of thirty children in a City with crohns and ulcerative colitis (and no help) you can do just about anything! It is very stressful but I know I have to work to help support my family. I hope this upcoming school year goes well. Have a great day!

I had to resign from my job in March, when I was really sick (I worked in an acute psychiatric unit & the state of my physical health made the job impossible). I have a couple of interviews coming up this week & next week but my condition hasn't ever completely gone into remission (despite medication regime). I worry that even a relatively short commute to work could be problematic (especially as one of the jobs is in a reasonably rural location & there are no toilets on route). I feel like my stupid malfunctioning body is trying to sabotage my career.

i personally can't... not yet at lest.
i had a job at a card shop since the fall i graduated from high school ('06) and havent really been able to do school. i left in late summer of 08 to go to school but went back in november b/c i couldn't handle school while being so sick. but in feb, i finally quit b/c i had been so sick it had been way to hard. it was kind of stressful all along b/c it was family owned and they weren't the easiest to work for and there was a lot of stress over gossip (which sounds dumb but there was A LOT of it and, as the youngest one there, some of the other girls would get mad over me doing things they weren't allowed... you know... petty things.) i still can't work but i'm hoping i'l feel better soon b/c i've had enough of being stuck at home w/ my parents.
my point is, if you can feel well enough to get a job make sure it's something that is stress free. i would personally go with something mind numbing that way you just kind of go, do wht you're told, go home, and get paid.

I have one of the least stressful jobs you can imagine. I work in a College Library.

I work at a call center, scheduling appointments for the medical field, and I was fortunate enough to get through year one before being stricken with Crohns. After that, I filed for FMLA and my job is protected if I am off sick, for up to 12 weeks per year.
What about a local zoo? Or aquarium? Something fun and possibly outdoors but near a port-a-potty or bathroom?

sure you can. a less labor-intensive job would be ideal, but desk jobs can also suck out your soul if you don't feel you're being productive. have you thought about giving art lessons?
i work in a research lab, which is highly stressful in waves. during the stressful times i tend to get ill, but the rest of the time it's a very satisfying and physically tolerable job.
I have sensura mio deep convex pouch sets that I c....
