COBRA question from a journalist

Wed, September 30, 2009 12:00 AM

To the C&C Community, I write for a major business magazine and am currently writing a story on COBRA. I would like to interview someone to get a real life example weighing the pros and cons of using COBRA after a job loss.
If you'd be interested in telling your story, please email me at:
dwhelan@forbes.com
I'm happy to talk first before an official interview.
Best,
David

I don't know what there is to write about. It is pretty simple. You must have continuous insurance coverage in order to keep from getting rejected by an insurance company for having a pre-existing health condition. I believe if you have a lapse in coverage of over 60 days the insurance company does not have to insure you if you have a pre-existing medical condition. The cost for COBRA is high, especially when you've lost your job. It is not a good scene. It is what President Obama is trying to fix. He wants to fix it so that no insurance company can reject you for having a pre-existing medical condition.
