Please help!! Anyone with Crohn's and Vascular Problems???

I have been formally diagnosed with Crohns since 2002, however, misdiagnosed since 1997. Recently I have had a multitude of problems. Mainly though I had 2 arteries (celiac and SMA) show blockage. I had angioplast in April 08, then bi-pass in June 08, they blocked again and had stint in Sept. 08, along with seton drains due to abcesses (that was done 3 times), and in Aug. 09 had to have angioplast again. This all started with a flare-up back in Feb.08. The doctors dont seem to feel its the Crohns causing this but, no doctor has yet to figure out why this is continuing to occur. Tests are not showing anything else wrong with me. Has anyone else had these issues? It has been extremely overwhelming. I am a single mother of a 15 year old, as well as, a teacher.

I too am on Coumadin forever!! I developed 2 blood clots in my colon discovered on CT scan when I was having pain during a hospitalization.

It does seem wierd that I bleed with this disease and then am on Coumadin, which is a blood thinner...I would like to get off it, but the hematologist says no - the clots could lead to a blockage and death of bowel tissue which would cause even worse problems.

So, yes - I guess vascular issues are a part of this disease process also.

Wildcat ... tell me about it. I have had 2 PEs due to this dang UC. I started to ask about a filter and my doctor told me he thought the clots were forming in my lungs and not traveling from anywhere else so a filter would not help. Talk about discouraging. Now I must live on blood thinners and hope I don't get a flare that bleeds bad.

They did and found nothing out of the ordinary. They have done so many different blood tests. They did put me on Plavix though. I go for another ultrasound to check the arteries this month.

have they drawn a hypercoag panel to make sure you dont have an underlying clotting disorder? There is a correlation between IBD and blood clots which can occur in either veins or arteries.
