Hi all,
I find that garlic really irritates my crohn's symptoms. Yet, so many healthy recipes use a lot of garlic for flavor.
I was wondering, does anyone have any suggestions on how to use garlic in a recipe so that it is less irritating... (we usually use less than half of what the recipe calls for...which is occasionally tolerable, but still not ideal...)
Or, suggestions on what to substitute for the garlic so that I am not always cooking bland meals for family and friends.
thanks for the suggestions!

Have you tried using the garlic puree that comes in a jar? The one I use almost has the texture of cooked cream of wheat cereal. It's still fresh garlic, but maybe being so finely processed may help. This garlic has not seemed to bother my UC.

I do better as a rule when I eat to live rather than live to eat. Its just not worth it, being sick.

Have you tried using garlic powder instead of regular garlic? They don't taste the same in my opionion but maybe its a solution your GI can handle. Or perhaps try half real garlic half garlic powder. Good luck.
