Every time that you think that you have reached bottom, just reach a little deeper. That is what you have to do. Its how you fight the fight that counts. Your wife will stand beside you as long as you look this thing square in the kisser and stand your ground. Don't give in one inch.

Sorry you are in pain today......abscess...(ouch) definitely not fun!
I think it is wonderful that you want to show appreciation to your wife. We wives sometimes take a lot and get little in return so it is refreshing to hear a husband wanting to show appreciation in return. Think about some of her interests?? Maybe pick up that new release her favorite author just released, or tickets to a holiday show if that is something she might like. Knowing you have good and bad days, why not pick a good day and make a special date night. Maybe dinner and a movie, but make it extra special and pick up a bouquet on your way home. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg, just the time and the words of your appreciation for sticking by your side through good times and bad.
I wish you and your wife many, many more goood times.

This might sound odd, but I look at people with deseases like cancer and I envy them. Deseases like cancer come to an end....your either cursed...go into remission or you die. With chrons it never ends, it's an ongoing struggle 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It takes your life away from you..it controls your life and it unfortunetly it takes the life of love ones away as well. How my wife tolerates this is beyond me..she's amazing.
Normally I'm a fairly happy easy going guy but when I'm in pain as I am n ow ( anal absess ) I'm not nice to be around.
What can I do for my wife...how can I make this up to her...how can I thank her for being there and living this with me?

Hi Jim,
You came to the right place. This forum is great. Lots of great people and so much useful info. I am a parent of a 19 year old who was diagnosed with UC 3 years ago. This forum has saved me from total panic. My daughter comes on here every once in a while too and feels like she's not alone with UC. She doesn't know anyone with it. When she was in high school with it, she felt so alone. She has a great doctor and is currently in remission and is applying to transfer to a 4 year college. Welcome to the forum and looking forward to your posts. I hope you feel better soon!!!!!

You are definitely not alone. I think everybody at one point or another feels "burned out"......whether it be a patient, caregiver, friend, family member. I am a mom of a CD patient who was sick from infancy yet un-diagnosed 'til 4 yrs of age. It has been 6 yrs now and we have all had our share of ups and downs. I think being a part of this community will be helpful to you for everybody is in a similar boat and can relate. There is often very good advice given too.
