Health Bar

Sat, January 30, 2010 6:14 PM

Having Crohns, I always find it difficult to find a good food to snack on. I am a big fan of nutrition/health bars, but I am never sure what is good and wont exacerbate my condition.

Does anybody have any recommendation of good bars? Are there any bars you avoid? Why? Thanks!

I made the serious mistake of a high fiber bar. Won't happen again.. I would look for a low fiber compromise. Also bananas are a safe bet for most of us.

My daughter has UC.  Her pediatric IBD specialist also had a nutritionist who suggested my daughter taking Luna Bars.  She said they have more calcium than other bars.  They are so good too!!!

I also have Crohn's but since we are all different I will just tell you the bar I just love and have no problems with.  I avoid "added sugar" to products and like just "real" food.  Larabar bars is a product that has no added sugar and is unprocessed, raw, non-gmo, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, vegan and kosher.  There are times when I need to carry something with me for a quick snack and this is just perfect.  I find them at my health food store and also at Krogers Grocery Store (Krogers has a very good health food section if you don't have a health food store near you).
