Hi Everyone, After way too many colonoscopies over the last 15 years my body refuses to ingest any liquid colon prep. I told my (new) Doctor, but I think he just thought I didn't want to drink the prep. I gag, I throw up. I really try. I am a 50 year old woman. Ive been through some rough stuff over the last 20 years with Crohns and I would drink if I could force myself too. I know how important Colonoscopies are. My colonoscopy is tomorrow morning. For the past 2 days I have had (with the exception of a piece of toast yesterday morning) clear liquids only. I took 2 Ducolax last night before bed, at 2pm I took the 2 laxitives that came in the Half Lytely kit, and at 4pm, 6 additional Ducolax laxitives. The 2 Ducolax last night were enough to give me liquid stools, but they were still brown. I am pushing the clear liquids as much as possible. Does anyone have any additional ideas as to what I can do to clear myself out? I am going to be so embarrassed and sad if I am not cleaned out enough for the test. The only other choice I know about is a Nasal Tube to get the stuff into my stomach, and it is too late to do that for tomorrows test. (and as if my intestines have decided to hold on to what liquid they can to prevent the possibility of dehydration - I haven't had any stool at all since 5pm or so)
Well, wish me luck. And lets all pray that the scientists, who can put a remote control car on Mars, can find a way to prep for a Colonoscopy that isn't so horrid. As it is now, we stress and worry, go without eating or worse, don't get much needed tests because the current solutions are not tolerable. I firmly believe there has to be a better way. I just wish I knew what it was.
Thanks,
A

I used the pills for my last colonoscopy. I can't remember the name of them. I will never drink those awful liquid preps again. I can't tolerate any of them. I end up throwing up. I even had the NG tube put in while I was awake before a surgery because I couldn't tolerate the liquids and that was a very awful experience. I hope you made it through ok!
