Sorry, I accidently submitted my post before I was finished. Continue to follow the link until you reach the application for the program. This program has been vital to me, because I have tried multiple treatments and Remicade is the only thing that will work for me. The program allows me to recieve Remicade Infusions for free with no cost at all to me for up to 1year. Good Luck!

Hello,
I am also a college student with no insurance and is currently recieving Remicade treatments for the past 6 months with financial assistant from their program. Go to Centocoraccessone.com and click on Remicade then select Patient Resources and click the Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Foundation, Inc. (JJPAF).

Your employer should make COBRA availible for your son when he loses his coverage. Please look into this. When on COBRA you will have plenty of time to look for permanent coverage.

Make sure you double and triple check to make sure the plan is going to
drop you with the new health care legislation. Blue cross/Blue Shield, Humana, and Kaiser permanente all agreed to allow the extension to age
27 (through age 26) immediately.

Your options:
1) If your insurance is not being administered by one of those three giants, you *need* to fight with the insurance CO to try and keep him on through age 26 because you will not be able to get him private insurance between now and 2014 if hes on Remicade. He will most definitely be denied private insurance.
2) Since he will no longer be under your insurance policy he may have options available for him to sign up at his College as most universities have plans (some even mandate coverage, which guarantees plan availability).
3) Since he will now be old enough to be considered independent he may be able to get Medicare/Medicaid if his income is low enough depending on the state you live in.
4) Aside from that, you will need to see if he is available for the high risk pool your state may or may not have, and barring that, the national pool that will be emerging in June/July. The national plan, however, will require that he have been uninsured for 6 months, and any high risk pool your state has likely has a 3 month or 6 month exclusion period for treatment for his pre-existing condition. Also, both the state high risk pools and the national high risk pools have some pretty serious cost-sharing mechanisms which are very expensive.
