Can crohn's cause low blood pressure??

Wed, May 05, 2010 12:00 AM

Has anyone with crohn's disease had problems with low blood pressure?  I've been referred to a heart specialist because my doctor is not sure what is going on.  Any advice?

Although I've always been on the low side for blood pressure, when I was very, very sick with Crohn's, my blood pressure was extremely low. When I was hospitalized, they were monitoring it extremely closely. I found when I'm healthy, active, and eating well, then I return to the low side of normal.  When I'm flaring and not able to eat or be active, it runs dangerously low. I'm glad you're doctor is looking further for you.  Good luck!

Yes.  Malnutrition is the culprit for me.  There are many causes.  Getting checked out is a good thing.
