I just recently left my full time job and benefits to start my own business. COBRA is extremely expensive ($550)... so I thought I would file for personal individual insurance. I have applied with 4 insurance companies-- so far been denied by two. Reason being: I have colitis and I am considered a risk candidate.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get coverage?
Thank you.

Some states such as MA and WA have insurance that is state sponsered, but not welfare or SSI. It is more affordable that traditional insurance. I would check on your state.

Good luck if you have crohn's or uc diease you are considered uninsurable
in the eyes of the insurance world i have had crohn's for 8years and lost my insurance last year 07 due to them raising prems so i couldn't afford it they raised my rates to 886.00 per month just for me, my husband was self-employed at the time.I tried getting other ins thu my job but atena said i would cause my company's prems to increase by 53% and he would insure me anyway. So as of now i have no insurance and can't get any.
GOOD LUCK with your insurance Venture. letme know if you're able to find any thing i live in GA. thanks
