Medications while pregnant??

I am just curious what medications any of you have taken while pregnant with Crohn's disease. I have one child who is now 10, and it seams like the literature states the meds are unsafe. Please let me know of your experiences!! Thank you! Holly

I was on Pentasa during my pregnancy with my daughter and Asacol when I was pregnant with my son. Both were prefect, healthy babies.

Hello I took predisone while I was pregnant as my doctor told me that Imuran was very unsafe pregnant or breastfeeding. I flared alot during my pregnacies because I had been on predisone so long I built up an immunity to it, my doc then had me take asacol. 12 a day. There really aren't too many meds you can take while being pregnant but always trust what your doc says and if you are not sure about it get a second opinion from a different source. I have UC but I took 6mp and colazal throughout my pregnancy and had a healthy baby boy last July 2007. He is almost 10 months now and doing great!!

I took Asacol while pregnant and didn't have any problems. I was also on it while nursing my son for close to a year.

I was on Azulfidine back in early 1980's. Had it for 2 pregnancies and there was no problem. Back then, my dr. said even though I needed to try 6-mp, he said not while I was pregnant.

I felt pretty good while I was pregnant, as though the hormones protect you. A few years later I got a flare-up.

Trust your dr. advice or get a new one.

I was on Imuran during my entire pregnancy. I tried to go off of it prior to getting pregnant but was starting a flare. You can't breastfeed while being on Imuran though.

I was on Humira while pregnant with my son. There haven't been many studies on pregnancy with Humira, simply because it's so new, but my doctor/studies say it doesn't cross the placenta (but IS secreted in breast milk). I had a very healthy pregnancy, and even better, a VERY healthy son! He is now 20 months old... has had no problems whatsoever, and is absolutely perfect (so far!). I am planning to get pregnant again soon, and will continue my Humira throughout (if all goes to plan). Hope all goes well for you!
