I have been living with colitis for about 7 years now. I have been in remission for about 1 year. Lately I am having flares again and with this comes great anxiety. We are an extremely active family. I have three children and travel often for sporting events and every time I get in the car I have anxiety and have to make quick stops frequently. Does anyone else deal with this and if so do you have any suggestions that may help my anxiety.
thanks

To travel around with this disease is difficult.... I would definitely agree. BUT ...I do it.....why because if I dont, than this F'in disease wins and WE cant let it..........SO if I am in my car with my family, I bring a bucket and wipes and extra clothes JUST in case... but I also make sure I know where McDonalds - Starbucks - Bookstores - CVS - supermarkets and any other fast food type places are located in the neighborhood.....I google this information prior to going to unknown areas. I dont eat and then get on the road or an airplane if at all possible - I "do my bathroom thing" until I think I am done and then forge forward. I live on immodium but I still have no controll of it diarrhea....I have found that cruises are a great CROHNS friendly vacation because there are sooooo many clean bathrooms available. I dont always get off the ship and unfortunately can NEVER do a tour because the buses are not usually equipped. But if I am feeling good I will take a taxi with just my family to a local beach which I confirm had a bathroom prior to getting in the cab. And the towns right off the ship usually are very tourist friendly and have plenty of restrooms. I even use restaurants.
JUST dont let the disease keep u down - u will have good days n bad days - Your kids and spouse sort of have to "deal with it" also because it will impact what they do as well --- but many people have disabilites and live with them....SO do we.............good luck..........
