Having problems here. I have been on Humira for a year now and ever since I started it I have been having problems with UTIs. I can not take my shot if there is an infection of any kind, I do fine while not taking it but tired of taking antibiotics. I drink ALOT of water, cranberry juice, and stay away from soda, but still seem to have this problem reoccur, My doctor can not tell me why I keep getting them though he has not ruled out if it is from the Humira or not. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions or even have the same problem. They hurt, they suck, and I am tired of them . . . Need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had Crohn's like symptoms for about 2 years, but was finally diagnosed with it about two weeks ago. I've been put on Asacol for Crohn's. I get relativly frequent UTI's and yeast infections. It drives me nuts.
I also have an IGA deficiency (part of my immune system doesn't function well), and I have heard that the immune deficiency I have may be to blame for the frequent UTI's and yeast infections. I drink tons of water too, but not too much helps me either. :(

hi,
just saw your message about chronic utis. hadnt had one in over 20 yrs. got a blood clot in my leg, took coumadin and started peeing blood. since then no sooner than i get over one uti, i get another. nobody can tell me why. keep checking me for bladder cancer, and the other usual offenders. keep finding blood in urine but no explanation so i have been on macrobid antibiotic 3x a wk for the past yr and a half.
am on my third homeopathic uti remedy (sepia) this wk. it is helping but not as quick as the standard antibiotics (which totally mess up my colon). also tried pulsatilla and cantharis to no avail. take asacol and oreodaphne 12c (homeopathic) for ibd. can't tolerate steroids and i wouldn't live very long on immunosupressives as i have one infection after another.
so.......if it helps in some perverse way to know there are others suffering the same misery i m your girl. then add in crohns, ulcerative colitis, a blood clotting disorder, reflux, asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, raynauds, skin problems, scoliosis, arthritis, carpal tunnel, back problems, allergies, chronic sinus infections and ear pain, menopause/hormone imbalance, sleep apnea, sciatica, insomnia, being swollen up like a blowtoad, and hemorrhoids the size of Texas and its no wonder i feel like a freak of nature. Thank God i have great hair! lol
to better days ahead for us all,

Elissa-
I realize that I'm not a lady, and that this is relatively long after your original request, but...
I too have had a series of UTI's (prostatitis, actually) that in my case led to my Crohn's diagnosis. As it turns out I have a fistula between my pouch (I had my large intestine removed years ago because of what was thought to be UC, and now have an IPAA) and my prostate, which is leading to repeated urinary tract infections.
Is it possible that you're having a similar problem? Mine was diagnosed through the application of an MRI with contrast (filled my pouch with contrasting fluid, and then pumped air in to force the contrast into any recesses).
I have sensura mio deep convex pouch sets that I c....
