Hello, I'm not sure the best place to post this but I wanted to get advice on traveling. My fiance has been diagnosed with IBD and we more think it is UC but we will be doing more tests soon to find/rule out if it's actually Crohns. He did have c.diff as well but the most recent test for that came back as negative.
Anyway, I wanted to find out if anyone had experience traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (or traveling in general) while taking medications such as Imuron? My fiance is likely going to be starting that medication. The state of his IBD right now isn't good, it's been bad everyday. We have already booked the trip to Cabo for a week in August so cancelling the trip could mean losing what we've paid. However, being that Imuron suppresses the immune system we are concerned about him traveling with a compromised immune system. I'd rather lose the money and trip if going means risking his health. So we are going towards cancelling it. I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience or advice on this first. We are looking at going to Canada instead (vancouver or whistler)
Thank you!

Thank you! Those are great points about the plane and confined places in general. I never would of thought of the vent. So I say that's more reason not to fly. The places in Canada we are thinking of going are driving distance from us but, we had debated flying other areas. Based on the plane though, I'm feeling stronger about driving. Plus that would give us more flexibility to set our own schedule and make any stops as necessary :) Being driving distance I feel is better too should something come up. We could get back or at least back into the states fairly easily. So I've started filing my claim with priceline to cancel Mexico and his doctor is going to write a letter. Here's to hoping they approve it!
Thank you again,
Raena

Hello:
Sorry to hear about your fiance. I am not on Immurian..but am on 6mp which is also a immune system suppressant. I have had some pretty bad experiences traveling..so all none essential travel for me has stopped. But, when I have traveled without sickness, here is what works for me: Allowing myself extra time so I am not rushing around; I wear a mask that you see at the hospital at the airport and on the plane; I make sure my air vent is closed; and I stick to my strict diet and don't drink the local water; and finally I make sure all my meds are current and refilled. The most important thing is wearing that mask when you are in confined spaces like the airport and on the plan. Best of luck to you and hope this helps...it works for me.
