Crohns and ulcerative colitis

Mon, November 03, 2014 8:38 PM

I was Dx with ulcerative colitis about 10 years ago at age 18. I recently spent time in the hospital due to bleeding and intense abdominal pain. After a colonoscopy the dr found I have both active ulcerative colitis and active Crohn's disease. I'm trying to find someone who is also suffering from both. My main questions are do you often have both be active at the same time? Is one active more than the other? Do you have to take medications for both UC and crohns or is their one med that will cover both? Please respond if you can help me. I feel a little lost right now. Thanks.

I was actually diagnosed with UC after I experienced symptoms like diarrhea, stomach cramps and blood in my stool. But later on it was found out that I was suffering from Chron's disease. The only option I had after I had undergone tests was to remove my colon and appendix in order to survive. That's because my condition was already severe. I am living with stoma now and I am thankful that I made that right decision.
