Pregnant With Crohns

Tue, January 27, 2015 10:51 AM

I have been battling Crohns disease since 2011. It was a Mild case, so i brushed it off for a year or two, went to the ER every time i had a massive pain and followed up with my GI doctor after. They would prescribe me different medications each time, i lost track. This went on from 2011 to end of 2013. I was in an out of the ER once every 3 months. At the end of 2013 was when it got even worse. The pains were unbearable, I couldn't go to work, i couldn't go out socializing, it hit me Emotionally, physically and mentally . I tried to fight the pain, but of course it would always win. Leaving me down and depressed about life. I missed my old self, the person i once was. I was really in tuned with everything towards the end of 2013 and 2014, trying new meds, keeping up with my diet, but it seemed as though everything happened, i got all the side effects to different meds, they changed my medication 3 times in less then 6 months. Finally, they have me on Remicade infusions. I have been on it now for about 8 months. I was in the ER in Oct 2014 with pancreatitis, they did not want to remove it, so i was admitted and stood there for a week. A month later, i was pregnant. I don't regret it one bit, as i always wanted to be a mom. I always thought as though i was unable to have kids, but god blessed me with one. Now i am 12 weeks pregnant and i have no energy. I am super weak, and the little energy i had is now drifting away. All i want to do is sleep. I must admit, my pains have decreased a lot. Which i am grateful for, but i don't know what else to. To gain the energy to continue working, to continue with life. The headaches, the nauseousness, the dizziness. The bit of pain i feel on my left side..

Relax Mom to Be.  I've been there, done that.   The first trimester of pregnancy is the most exhausting for everyone!  it is the most critical time with the fetus's cells forming and going to work to create the miracle.  I had actually dozed off one time while talking with my boss!   It will be fine.   I felt just as the 14th week came a long it was like a weight was lifted from me and I felt great!   It is important to take vitamins and keep hydrated, lots and lots of water.  If you can, try to catch a nap mid-day just 20 min. to recharge and head to bed a bit earlier at night.

Good luck

Hi there, Im 19 and I havent experienced pregnancy or a job or a husband, or even a boyfriend!(being sick is enough for me, a relationship seems exhausting) which is part of why I wanted to reach out to you. I feel connected to you in a way b/c I have the same fears about my future as you do yours. I keep hoping one day I will just be better... Anyway, how is your pregnancy going? Im terrified that I wont ever get pregnant b/c of all these drugs Ive put in my body. But whats even scarier to me is having a baby but not having enough energy to raise it. Do you have a good support system to lean on when you need help? Like your mom? I wanted to let you know Im here if you want to talk. Its nice to let it all out sometimes. This disease leads us down such a lonely road, but I want to remind you youre not alone :)

Continue----------- The lose of breath when i walk. The lack of sleep no matter how long i've been sleeping. Its truly exhausting. I am officially an emotional wreck. (That's how i feel). I am always calling off sick from work, i am afraid of losing my job. Afraid of not being successful and not being able to achieve and accomplish my dreams/goals. How am i going to buy my home, or get my baby what it needs. My husband can only do so much. I can't bare to see him have everything fall on top of his shoulders. Sometimes i feel as though he shouldn't have married me. I may be having a pity party, but it surly feels like a very long one
