Hi: My 9 y.o. daughter has UC and I would like to have her connect with other kids with U.C. I don't see any online forums for kids her age. We don't live close to any of the camp sites. How do kids (or their parents, rather) find and connect with other kids? Of course there is the issue of privacy, I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to just come out and tell me who has it and where they live. Does anyone know of methods to connect their kids with other kids suffering from the disease? My daughter would love to know there are plenty of other kids out there with the same problems she has. It would make such a difference to her mental state if she could share thoughts and life with another kid who knows just how she feels. Thank you!

Thank you very much for your kind offer! I will pass this information to my daughter. I hate to say she really only relates to other girls at this tender age, but perhaps she will change her mind sometime! Thanks again.

I know how you feel.... My 11 year old son has Crohn's and the only people he has gotten to talk to have been adults. Until just recently when he was able to get to camp Oasis. He now knows that he is not alone. If your daughter is still looking for someone to talk to I am sure he would e-mail with her or talk with her on the computer.

Hi Sonya:
Thank you so much for your kind offer of support. I will pass this information on to my daughter and if she likes the idea we will surely be in touch via email. If you don't mind, I'll email you too.
I got some information mailed to me from CCFA. I called the local chapter and the woman was very helpful. The Power of 2 program seems great. Did you get this information? I'm going to try to take her camp next year. Has your daughter gone?

I have felt your pain for over 2 years now. My daughter is now 15 and a remarkable girl, if you ever wanted to talk with her for advise or have your daughter talk to her please let me know. She is a remarkable sweet, kind, smart young woman who has matured so much and really wants to make a difference in the world, my e-mail is mauimom64@sbcglobal.net
Have you considered contacting your local hospital to see about how to start a support group in your area? You may be suprised at the numbers of kids in your area. My daughter has worked somewhat with her doc to get one going with the kids from her office but the doc has been dragging her feet some, but we understand, she has twins and also studies at Stanford U so she is really busy.
Good Luck
