Scared of rare symptoms?

Wed, October 23, 2019 5:30 PM

Hi there, I am new to this forum -- I was hoping to hear if maybe others have had the experience of different kinds of symptoms-- then going down the rabbit hole online and worrying they are fatal.  I am trying to remain calm, I even gave myself a calm username--AllisWell laugh

I am a working, married mom so my anxiey goes through the roof when I get symptoms -- I feel this immense pressure and concern if something were to happen to me.

I have had sinus presure after a cold last week, but then also back and neck pain and I have been feeling gas pains under my left ribcage, almost as if it were right behind my heart.  I went to Urgent Care and they said it was just  a sinus infection.  But I feel funky.  It's hard to describe.  So I went online to see if maybe this could be related to UC.  I am not in a flare but I am pretty sure I have some inflammation in my colon as I have been very sensitive to food and gassy lately.  Well, of course I found there is a thing called hyper-coagulable state that can be associated with UC and the side affects are back pain, neck pain-- sinus pain.  I have worked my self into a lather.  I emailed my gastro who said it is extemely rare.

Does anyone else do this to themselves?  It's torture.  I wish I were better at meditation, yoga all that stuff to help manage stress.  But I get so busy.  Anyhow, I would love to know I am not alone.  Have any of you worried about this in particular? Thank you!

It's actually the middle of the night here in Australia and I am having a typical freak out session. I came online to try to find something to make me feel better and your post diid. I feel the same way, as soon as a symptom comes on (not just Crohn's related....any health thing) I freak out. Stress makes the Crohn's act up, I freak out more, it's a vicious cycle. Recently I had a routine colonoscopy and was feeling fine so I expected it to be okay but I had swelling and redness at the ileocaecal valve and they coudn't get any farther. This isn't the first time this has happened, it happened once when I was still living in Ohio back in 2004. My doc at the time wanted me to try Imuran but I was afraid and didn't try it. I moved here in 2007 and have had several colonoscopies which have been okay. A few years ago though, my doctor here did convince me to take Imuran. I was nervous because of possible side effects. Well after this colonoscopy, he wanted to put me on Humira. I went to their website and the potential side effects FREAKED me out big time. So I met with him on Tuesday and said I was feeling fine and didn't want to do anything drastic yet. He said "the problem is things always go wrong on a Friday or at Christmas, Murphy's Law" but he said I had to do what was right for me and agreed to watch and wait. SO here we are Friday night and I'm up vomiting and having a little pain (have been here many times before) so I'm wondering if I made a huge mistake by not just taking the Humira....which I didn't want to take because I am a working mother and was scared of side effects, so my old bestie "anxiety" is telling me that "It's Friday night" and here we are just like the doctor said. To be quite honest, I drive myself nuts.

This may sound odd but you might be having a reaction that could lead to that desiess. I was thinking maybe start by eating healthy foods and limiting sweets, see how you fell. Drink tons of water, sorry i couldn't give you mor advice i wish i could.
