Well as I have posted a few times, I am on Colazal, cortenemas and Canasa and there is no response from them and my doctor is starting to get worried that I have stopped responding to everything. I had to call him Monday to tell him that my hair is now coming out in handfulls. He wants to discuss IV steriods, acetarsol suppositories or methotrexate. Steroids have never worked, I'm scared to try Methotrexate and the thought of acetarsol just gives me the chills. Everything is interefering with my daily life and I cannot afford it to. I'm just having a hard time dealing with the fact that I can't get out and run with my 3 year old or carry my 3 month old for more than a few minutes. Luckily my husband is being really good about this. I'm ready to have the surgery because I want to be able to give my children their mommy back. I know with the surgery it takes a long time to recover and you will face problems along the way but just about anything is better than this. Any of you think I qualify for the surgery? Anything would be nice... I just need help and only people with UC or Crohns understands this predicament.

Tarheel,
Humira works best for me! Talk to your doctor about it.

I've had Crohn's since I am 12 yrs.old and have tried several remedies, including re-sections (3). I have two children and after my second, I had a major flare-up, sounds like your situation. I ultimately had another resection, which made a big change in my life for 6 more years. Right now I am on Humira and it is working really well for me. I started on it 1 yr. ago. Medications work differently on different people. For me, Remicade was okay, but Humira is definitely better. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Hi. Have you tried remicade? I am newly diagnosed and it worked wonders for me. Nothing the doctor gave me would work except steroids. Obviously I couldnt' stay on those forever so he started me on Remicade. I had a flare up that was so bad I almost lost my colon. The remicade has been great. I feel tired sometimes but overall its great. You should talk to your doctor about it. Good luck!

I understand how you are feeling. I have 1 year old twins that I sometimes can not do anything for or with because I have no energy or because I am in so much pain. Before I was diagnosed with Crohn's I would never tell anyone to take as many meds as possible, but it is a different story now. I think you should try the meds. One sure thing about these disease are that they affect each of us in a different manner and so it is sometimes hard to find the right med or right combo of meds. You have to consider not only the recovery time, but that "it" can come back after surgery. Especially if you are dealing with stress, and I know you are with a 3 year old and a 3 month old Whatever you decide, just know that we are always here for you.

As someone with UC all I can say is I empathize. I have found that just accepting this situation, and saying to one's self, "yeah this sucks, and I am miserable" and not running from the feeling can be empowering. That being said, this is often easier said than done. Keep your chin up, tomorrow might be better, and if not try to appreciate times, even moments where something makes you happy. Again easier said than done. Good luck.
