I have a rare type of Colitis called "Microscopic".. I don't have ulcers but i have bloating all the time ..and Asacol is the only drug that i can use.. it is helpful for the diarhea and urgency problems but does not help me with always feeling bloated and uncomfortable in my own skin. I excercise daily and eat healthy trying to feel normal again. Does any have any experiences to share??

Hi Monica:
I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 10 (I am now 27). I, too, have also been told that I have some signs of Microscopic Colitis. To manage my symptoms, I have watched my intake of certain foods - particularly bologna, spicy foods and tomato-based substances. I also do Yoga several times a week, which has helped a great deal - both physically and mentally. I have been medication-free for almost 10 years now.
I hope this helps. I know it can be frustrating, especially when some tests are inconclusive due to its 'microscopic' nature. But diet and exercise does help, and I know that is what you've been doing. I believe that in time symptoms improve as long as we continue our daily regimen to combat it.
In Good Health,
Jocelyn

It is inflammation in the cells and/or lining of the colin that causes symptoms of bloating, urgency and diarhea. The only drugs that they have available to try are the ones used for Ulcerative Colitis etc. I am currently on Asacol.
