Question for the Forum: How to handle this?

Tue, September 01, 2009 11:01 AM

My wife and I have planned a two week trip on a tour bus.  I am now in remission for UC, but picked this tour group because all busses have bathrooms, a point made in their advertisements.  We have done one trip before I was diagnosed with UC, and at the very start of that trip, the escort welcomed everyone, pointed out that the bathroom was available, but made the statement that what went in the toilet on the first day one would still be there when we returned, implying: they don't pump during the trip, and try to wait for the rest stops if possible.  Has anyone in the forum (who are the only TRUE experts in matters of IBS), run into a similar situation?  Do you think I need to explain using a toilet that I paid $4000 for?  How would you handle it?

I would just contact the tour company and explain the situation to them.  They have deodorant tablets or liquid that they can put into the holding tank - just ask them to bring extra.  I used to manage a transportation company and would have no problem if a customer requested this.  Personally - (in addition to the above) I would carry a small can of air freshener and a roll of toilet paper and take them into the bathroom each time.  The toilet paper they use is rough!  Have a wonderful trip.
