worried about finances

Hello,  My 15 year old son diagnosed in sep. 09 with IBD has been very sick and hospitalized twice so far this year.  I work at home as a licened family child privider.  I am losing my clients due to the fact that I have had to take so much time off from my business caring for my son.  I am losing  alot of income.  I am married and luckly my husband has good health insurance, however his income alone is not enough.  I am looking to earn extra money from home.  Does anyone have any good ideas?

Thank you

You should count your blessings......at least you have good health benefits.   There are too  many people in our country that do not, and with this illness, it would bankrupt many.

Dealing with CD for so long hasn't been financially easy for my family either.   I actually took an extended leave of absence from my career too.   Unfortunately, it is longer than I ever expected, but we manage.  I have made several "cut-backs" here at home and am amazed at the savings.  It really makes a difference.

Over this extended period of time that I've had off, I've had a lot of time to re-consider my own personal ambitions and dreams and determined I will never return to my old profession.   In due time, I plan to open my own and work for myself!

It is hard to make suggestions with regard to you bringing in extra income without knowing where your talents lie, but stay true to yourself.   Think about what you are passionate about and take it from there.  Being you mentioned you do childcare out of the home, would it make sense to maybe place an ad in your local paper and work on an as-needed basis?  This way you would have more control of your schedule, depending on how your son is feeling??   I only thought of this because my mom has been a nurse forever and used to work "agency work".   It was great because there wasn't a full-time commitment.  If they called and she was available, she went in and made good $.   Just a thought.

As always, all my best to you and your family.
