Yor need to be taking your meds it will make a difference.  I have had crohn's for 8years.  This year I had my second surgery and spent 4 months recovering.  I know my family cares but no one truly understands unless your going through it yourself.  This is the best website to find information and talk to other people.  Look into to programs in your area that will help with no insurance.

if  you dont have insurance and are uncomfortable with the money situation there are many diets you can try.  Lots of people feel better while just changing what they eat (myself included).  Granted many of them are also on medications.  Its worth try and its better to have to watch what you eat than to be in pain all day.  Google the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and see what you find.

You should refer your family to this website and have  them read some of the stoires so they can understand what this disease is all about.  They and you need to understand that this is a cronic condition and will never go away.  It is is important to take your meds. so you can well .  There will be days when you feel crappy,  but hopefully, these days will be far and few in between.  Good luck

You have come to the right forum if you "just need someone to talk to".   This forum is full of people who are coping with the same disease.   They are always there to lend an ear when "venting" is needed or even give suggestions for diets, meds, pretty much anything.  Your first step is to decide you are going to put yourself first and seek the advice of a good GI.   With the right combination of meds and diet, lots of people are living full lives.  Everyone has their ups / downs, but who doesn't?

Be well,

Sorry to say if you have Crohn's you should be on medication. The goals are to stop a flare and get into remission and to keep in remission as long as possible. The medications although certainly not perfect help to do those things.

Crohn's is a serious disease. Everyone has a different story to tell but basically until a "cure" can be found please take your meds. It may take a while to find the right combination, and they often take time to "kick in" and yes the monkey wrench can come in and something that worked well for a long time now doesn't seem to help, but if you can keep things quiet less damage is done.
