Just needed to vent a little. A 19 year old young man took his life this weekend because of CD. The pain was too much to bear and he could no longer take it. It is pretty sad that in this day and age that we cannot control a disease like this and allow a child to enjoy their life. I was very fortunate that my CD wasnt diagnosed and did not effect me till my 30's. I cannot imagine dealing with this at such an early age. It breaks my heart that his mother a woman I have known since I was in High School now has to bury this child because of CD. It took his abiltiy to have a social life and be a normal kid and he was constantly in and out of surgery and now it has literally taken his life. Why cant they find something to help us and to especially help the kids who are afflicted with CD and UC? There has to be something better out there other than the drugs whose side effects are almost worse than the disease. It makes me sad and angry all at the same time. God bless him and his family.

So sorry to hear about your friends loss....I was diagnosed at 19 with crohns disease after being admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery after going undiagnosed for sevreal months. I am now 37 and am still battling Crohns! I average 1-2 hospital admissions per year for blockages and am now considering surgery yet again, they keep telling me meds will only make it better for so long then surgery is the only thing that will work. I am currently on Cimzia which i hate self injecting!!! Tried Remicade, which I loved but after being on it for a year my body decided to reject it (had Lupus symptoms and lost all feeling in my whole body). I hope someday they come up with a cure so that we can all live a better life

I am so sorry for your loss. CD is an ugly disease! Please let your friend know that I have her in my prayers and that there are organizations that can help her with the loss of her son (Survivors of Suicide).

How terrible. That poor child must have endured so much pain and suffering. My heart breaks for his parents.
You are so right when you said there isn't enough help for Crohn's or UC. We need to bring more awareness!!

I wanted to extend my condolences to you for this horrific incident. My daughter has had CD since age 4 (she's now 10). All we can do as parents is our best to make every day as "normal" as possible. Maybe this will motivate others to become more proactive, take a leadership role and raise more $$ for a cure. God bless.
