no insurance and stressing

Wed, April 18, 2012 10:40 PM

I was diagnosed with UC in 2005.  I was able to keep current with colonoscopies while on my mother's insurance and between jobs through the health clinics. Now that I have a full-time job and able to pay bills, I can't afford health insurance.  I haven't had a colonoscopy in 4 yrs and cannot find affordable insurance.  Of course stressing over this is not helping my symptoms.  Also, the doctor who was keeping me on med programs to get my meds has said he will no longer do so without a colonoscopy that I cannot afford.

Does anyone know of cheap (or fairly cheap) insurance available to folks with IBD?

I am so nervous to even get one done at this point.

Obtaining health insurance or financial assistance to cover all health costs can be challenging for those who need it most.

new health care reform legislation has been approved and includes insurance for patients with pre-existing conditions.

Please review the following website for more information on health insurance www.healthreform.gov , as well as CCFA’s fact sheet on “Healthcare Reform,” at http://www.ccfa.org/media/pdf/healthcarereform.pdf?LMI=1
