Things get better in time.

The other day I was talking to my mom and she was telling me how worried she was when I was diagnosed with UC. Which made me think of those really hard years of my life that I made it through. I havn't even thought of UC in a couple of years now.

I remember coming to this place about 5 years ago and I was afraid. Afraid my life was never going to be the same as it was. I was sick all the time, seemed like everyday I was in pain. I was in and out of the hospital a couple times a year. I had a lot of medical debt from the hospital visits, I couldn't afford the expensive pills I was suppose to take everyday for the rest of my life! I just felt like my life was falling apart at soon as I really started living (I was like 21 at the time) I cried so much because I was sick all the time and I couldn't afford the medication I was suppose to take. I was living on my own, my 4 year long relationship was falling apart (and it ended, no one wants to date a sick girl). I loved my parents but we were not very close anymore. After that I hit my breaking point, I was just done with life and everything. I'm already sick everyday, I can't live this way anymore.  I did a lot of research on foods and what helps and does not help. I changed up what I ate. I was determined to be well again.

Years later I'm back to normal. I was so scared when I was told I had to take pills for the rest of my life, but doctors don't know everything. I don't take any pills, worked through my debt, I don't feel any pain, everything was back to normal! Will my UC come back to haunt me someday, probably. However now I feel like I can deal with it and I know I can get back to normal.

So my point in posting this is that I know life looks bleak right now, stay determined, think positive, and everything will turn out ok! I wish someone would have posted how well they were doing 5 years ago when I was here, so I could have had hope to be normal again.

Sure. I just eat a lot of fruit, coconut products (oil, milk, etc), and I  take fiber gummies.  I read on someones blog about a diet high in fruit helped people on some island feel better and they were disease free. So I tried it for myself, I have to admit that I feel much better. I don't even eat that much fruit, I just make a fruit smoothie for breakfast everyday. If you decide to give it a try, let me know how it goes for you.
