Here it is 2014 and I have had Crohns for 7yrs now. I am a stay at home mother of a 5yr old and 2yr old both girls. So after not working or having insurance and being able to afford the needed meds to keep my Crohns in remission I ended up having to have about 12 inches of my small bowel removed. I spent a little over a week in the hospital before surgery was even mentioned because the inflammation markers in my blood were normal and my CT scans didn't show anything either.. This was very frustrating because at that point the Dr.'s became skeptical as to was really in pain or just there for the pain meds because they had me on Dilaudid!!! This upset me greatly!! I couldn't even tolerate a liquid diet at that point. I was due to have a Colonoscopy but wound up in the ER before it could be done. Now they don't like to do the procedure while you are in an active flare but in this case they didn't really have a choice. So after a failed attempt with the Golytely prep I had to do the Magnesium Citrate which was still rough but I managed to get it down and keep it down with the help of 4mg of Dilaudid and 20mgs Oxycodone for the pain it caused from just drinking it!!! Well, the results of the colonoscopy showed a stricture in my small bowel. GO FIGURE!!! Surgery was scheduled with the plan of removing the stricture and getting me on the new biologic Cimzia to help keep my crohns in remission. The recovery after surgery for me was a little rough because of some complications but after it was fixed I started feeling much better and the road to recovery seemed to be going a lot better!! So here it is August 6th and I am back in the hospital for the 3rd time since my surgery!!! I just had my 2nd shot of Cimzia since The end of April and I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this med. Any and all input is welcomed.. Thank you
