possible surgery?...other options needed.

Well I'm 24, diagnosed in 2007 with crohn's disease..I've had 3 surgeries for perianal abscesses and now my doctor is saying a colostomy bag is needed ..when I'm doing just fine ...anyone else going through this ?

Similar situation, but I've got no colon, just a J-pouch.  I've only had drains placed in the fistulas.  I'm trying gut rest now, but they're recommending an end illeostomy.  I don't feel sick enough to need that (as long as I'm on antibiotics to keep the fistulas from being infected anyway).

They are also acting like an ostomy would "cure" me.  I don't trust that.  I've got joint pain associated with the IBD, too (30 years old, btw).  If you've decided to have the surgery, please let me know how it went/goes for you!
