Hi all,
My name is Kyle Radin, and I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in early 2012. Eight months later, I had emergency surgery to have my colon removed and was left with a temporary ileostomy and now have a functioning j-pouch. However, trying to manage my ileostomy was challenging emotionally, mentally, and even physically, as I learned how to properly take care of my ostomy. Thus, I decided to develop MentorOstomy, a website that is devoted to helping those with temporary or permanent ileostomies or colostomies overcome the challenges that come with it. If you would be interested in becoming a mentor through the website (www.mentorostomy.org), or are just looking for a mentor who has been through similar experiences and would love to help, feel free to check it out! Hopefully, nobody going through surgery due to IBD ever has to feel alone in the process. If there is anything I can do to help anyone from this forum manage their ostomy, even if that means just having someone to speak with who has been through a similar experience, feel free to email me anytime at kyleradin@mentorostomy.org. I wish you all nothing but the best; be well, friends.
Kyle Radin
