My name is Evelyn and I have finished all of my surgeries. Including total Colectomy, reconstruction and Ileostomy takedown. Last one was on April 17th of 2008.
Everything went relatively well except for one abscess and a bout of C-Diff. I felt great for about a month after my Ileostomy take down surgery.
Within the last month I started getting recurring bowel obstructions. My most recent stay in the hospital consisted of a small bowel follow through to try to see what the issue was. They did not find anything that should be causing the obstructions. The only thing that they could come up with was the theory that it could be post-operative small bowel paralysis. I've been trying to find information on this, however everything I read seems to refer to these problems within the first 72 hours after the surgery and not a couple months later.
I am very frustrated as I am not really getting any answers or help in how to deal with this. So, I am wondering if anybody else that has had these surgeries has had to deal with a similar situation and what kinds of things they were able to do to help correct it.
Thank you ahead of time for any responses.
Evelyn
