I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in October of 2015. My Crohn's was severe when I was diagnosed and I had developed complications. I had stricturing and an abscess. This led me to surgery in February of 2016 to remove ~12 inches of my small intestine and a temporary illeostomy. I had the illeostomy take down surgery in April 2016.
Now, 3 months after surgery, I am struggling with diarrhea 3 to 4 times a day. I have tried diet changes and eliminating fiber and it does not seem to be helping. My doctors think it is very unlikely this is due to a Crohn's recurrence as I am currently taking Remicade & Imuran.
Has anyone else had this type of surgery and experienced similar problems? I am wondering if this is a long term side effect of surgery or if my bowels just need more time to normalize. Any insight that anyone can provide would be so appreciated! Let's stick together!! :)

I had 2 resections last year (February & November). After the February one I was still struggling with daily diarrhea up until the 2nd on in November. Even now, 8 months post op I have diarrhea 3-4+ times per week for the whole day. My docs aren't super concerned since removing portions of the colon reduces your water absorption causing loose stools. I've just gotten used to it. It gets better, but I don't think it will ever go away. Best of luck!
