Hello Everyone:
First thank you for your time,
I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone had any advice and or suggestions (or words of encouragement) for me.
I have been living with UC for 2 1/2 years now, and have been on almost all the classes of medication there is for it. I am right now on my sixth round of Prednisone. I am as of now preparing to have a Total Colectomy done next week (11-30-16).
I appreciate any advice given, thanks again

I had a Koch Pouch about 30 years ago when I was about 36. It was the best thing I ever did. You won't believe how well you'll feel afterward. It is a pretty major surgery, so plan on a longer recovery. But it is well worth it!!! At first, I had to watch what I ate. After a couple years, I was pretty much able to eat whatever I wanted. I don't know what kind of surgery you opted for. Hopefully, you've looked into the Koch Pouch and J-Pouch procedures. These are both better than wearing a bag. Just find a good surgeon who has had a lot of experience with these surgeries--you don't want a novice! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to write me.
Make sure you go to a hospital where they specialize in the procedure and your doctor has done it a ton of times.
