I have a younger sister who is having Crohn's disease. She was in the hospital for three times recently for her disease.
The first time was on September 2016 for a month. Doctors said she had a fistula and an abscess. She has been treated on drainage and Remicade. She was discharged after Remicade on 2 weeks. The next Remicade is 3 more weeks.
However, a week after her discharge, she backed in the hospital and got another abscess. She had another drainage besides the old ones. After a week, surgeons took out both of her drainage as the liquid came out under 10ml a day. (One of her two abscesses still there; however, doctors did not mention about that) She was discharged from the hospital right before Thanksgiving.
Then, only 2 days later, she backed again in the hospital and got 2 new abscesses. This time, doctors mentioned about her previous abscess still there. I did not know why surgeons still take the drainage out and discharge her while she still have the abscess. Why did the doctors did not let the abscesses drain completely instead of discharge her with antibiotics medication. Now, the third time, GI doctors said the best solution is surgery. It seems that we have no choice to follow their surgery treatment. what should we do and how can we seek help for our situation?
P/s: It is the Johns Hopskin Hospital ( JPS Hospital at Fort worth, Texas )
