Over a decade ago I used to suffer from ulcerative colitis. I went through multiple surgeries and eventually got the bad portion of my colon taken out. I no longer suffer from the intense pain of ulcerative colitis, but now I deal with dehydration due to constant diarrhea. I've been drinking gatorade/powerade/vitaminewater for the longest time to restore my electrolytes. I'm getting bored of the taste and from several websites I've read it seems as though it isn't exactly the best products out there for recovering lost electrolytes. I recently did a bit of googling and found this sports drink powder:

I've read many good things about this product, and I would like to try this sports drink powder, but my concern is that it is marketed towards athletes people who exercise. Would there be any negative consequences of consuming this product if I wasn't a rock star athlete. I mean I do a few pushups/crunches from time to time, but that's about it. Is there anyone on this forum that could give me advice about switching to this type of product?

My guess is that the product you found would be fine to drink. I was diagnosed with UC when I was 15 and suffered on-and-off for a number of years with it. I had one long period of remission in my 20s, which I attribute to the use of marijuana. I stopped using it when I decided to attend graduate school at age 30. My UC immediately came back with a vengeance. I wound up having Koch Pouch surgery, which has worked well. However, I do get periodic bouts of "pouchitis", which can be treated with antibiotics. However, I decided to try marijuana again, and I have not had a problem in 3 years. My brother struggles with constant diarrhea as does a friend. I told them both to try marijuana, and they both have had great results. You may want to give it a try. I'm 65 years old and by no means a "stoner." I usually use it right before I go to bed, so I sleep well too. Don't expect doctors to endorse it as they have pretty fixed opinions, and there has been little research on marijuana due to the legal restrictions in the US (so stupid). Some younger doctors seems to be at least willing to listen to me. You may find some relief with it. Hope my experience helps you.
