I had a gallbladder infection, which caused gall to continuously spill into my intestine. This gall burned my colon, and now I have UC; furthermore, when the infection was gone, I was left with a large gallbladder polyp. When the gallbladder is feeling better, then UC goes into remission; however, keeping my gallbladder happy is increasingly difficult, as the polyp continues growing. I was suggested to have the gallbladder surgically removed; however, I am worried that if gal drains into the colon too quickly, then it might cause chronic UC with no remission.
Has anyone had their gallbladder removed while having Ulerative Collitis? Can you share your experience?

Dr said gallbladder was infected, so they took it out. Now I have colitis that I never had before. I now have constant trouble with crohns and colitis and live in the bathroom. You are right, the bile is burning the intestine and I can't stop the bleeding with questran or endocort. I was told it's no problem without the gb and many are removed. A terrible lie. This life sucks.

I don't have UC, I have Crohn's Disease and have had my gallbladder removed. They removed it because of my fistula, they said it was badly affected and made the decision to take it out. If they wouldn't have told me they did that, I wouldn't have known the difference. I hope this helps and good luck!
